Our Qualifications
Editing
I earned a
Bachelor of Arts in both Linguistics and Creative Writing from the State
University of New York at Oswego in May of 2000. I worked for three years
as a writing consultant in the University Writing Center, meeting with students
one-on-one to bring their projects from first draft to fruition. These
students ranged in ability from learning disabled, to English as a second
language learners, to ones working on Honors theses. My writing has been
recognized with numerous University-wide awards and honorable mentions. I
was the Editor-in-Chief of the University Literary Journal for two years, as
well as an editing liaison for various University organizations.
In addition to managing a bookstore, I have been tutoring in low-income public
school classrooms since graduation, working one-on-one and in small groups.
These students range in age from 8 to 18, with varied levels of ability.
Translation
I earned a
Bachelor of Linguistics from the Honors Program at the State University of New York
at Oswego in May of 2000, ranking Magna Cum Laude. I worked as a
University Administrator from 2000-2001 before being accepted into the
prestigious Teach For America program. I have been a Teach For America core
member since 2001, and will graduate Suma Cum Laude from Pace University in
2003.
I have lived in Italy, Brazil, Japan and the Dominican Republic for extended
periods of time.
My international experience includes working as a Rotary International
Conference Translator in Brazil. I have also taught English in Brazil and Japan
at both private and public schools ranging from Elementary to University level.
I am currently a third grade bilingual teacher in Harlem, New York.
Statistical Analysis & Web Design
I earned a
Bachelor of Science from the State
University of New York at Oswego. My major was
Marketing and my minor was Computer Information Science. I graduated in May of
1999 and began working for the Institute for
International Research, the world's largest international information
company, in New York City. I started there as a marketing assistant,
working to promote manufacturing related conferences and was quickly
promoted to marketing manager. I
wrote and implemented marketing plans for 3-4 training events per month. My
additional duties included: the creation and maintenance of a
budgeting/media mix software tool, the development and management of our
monthly e-Newsletter, creating report templates for querying in Access, and
I also acted as the primary contact between my division and our in-house web
department.
