I am writing to express my interest in a teaching position in «NAME». I am graduating from XYZ University in May with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education K-6. I am interested in a position beginning September of 2003.
During my three and a half years at XYZ, I have sought to be a well-rounded student who has maintained a strong GPA, while participating in, and organizing, many activities on campus. I have been involved with Habitat for Humanity.
I have always known that I wanted to be an educator. I have had the opportunity to Student Teach and to work with students at diverse functional levels. While student teaching I worked with autistic children between the ages of 5-7 years old, and out of a desire for fuller exposure I visited other autistic classrooms in which the students ranged up to the age of 21. I subsequently worked with severely mentally disabled and Down’s Syndrome adolescents. It took an enormous amount of patience but every little breakthrough was worth its weight in gold.
I believe that my background in education and the varied teaching experiences that I have had make me well qualified for a position at your school. I would be an asset because I am a responsible, self-motivated person who is willing to work hard to succeed. I feel that I have a gift to reach others and to help them accomplish their goals and I am confident that I can perform the job effectively.
Please consider my request for a personal interview to discuss further my qualifications. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
